Discover Our Campus' Unique Features

Located south of downtown Louisville adjacent to the historic Old Louisville neighborhood, Belknap Campus boasts lush landscaping, historic architecture, a diverse art collection, and a notable self-guided tree tour, earning recognition as the "most beautiful campus in Kentucky." AND Belknap Campus is a lush, park-like environment with more than 1,100 trees and beautiful landscaping. It houses eight of the university’s 12 academic colleges and many of our Cardinal athletics facilities. During your stroll on our campus, which has origins dating back to just before the Civil War, you’ll walk among buildings from various eras and architectural styles.  You’ll also spot an equally varied public art collection, including The Thinker by August Rodin.

Unwind on a self-guided tree tour — a must-see for garden and arboretum enthusiasts. The full tour takes about an hour and a half and is approximately a 1.75-mile walk. The tour features several trees of historic significance, as well as trees native to Kentucky, with identification plaques to guide you along the way. Stop by our North Information Center to be welcomed by our student Cardinal Ambassadors and to get your tree tour brochure.  We hope you enjoy your time on our gorgeous campus, which has been designated as a “Tree Campus USA” by the national Arbor Day Foundation and has been dubbed the “most beautiful campus in Kentucky” by various publications.
